Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (June 2, 2020) – Brenham Crouch captured a top five and two top 10s during a busy weekend of racing, but most importantly he gained a book’s worth of knowledge.

Crouch improved throughout his first three starts in a midget while making his debut with Keith Kunz Motorsports during the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League’s 7th annual Turnpike Challenge.

“It was fierce competition and was harder than I thought it would be,” he said. “Those drivers are really good. It takes a while to pick up racing a midget. In hindsight I think I could have been more aggressive, but each night I was able to compete better and improve my aggressiveness. Getting used to the fundamentals of it like the timing and the horsepower, those are the little things I need to improve on.”

The opening round of the weekend rained out last Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. Crouch made his midget debut on Friday at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he was involved in a couple of wrecks during the night that resulted in a finish in the C Main.

Saturday’s show at I-44 Riverside Speedway was a step forward as Crouch did better in his heat race, transferred through the C Main and rallied from 15th to seventh in a B Main. Sunday’s weekend finale at Port City Raceway also ended in a B Main.

Crouch also competed in winged micro sprint action all three nights with the POWRi Engler Machine and Tool 600cc Outlaw Micro League. A ninth-place run in the A Main on Saturday highlighted the weekend in the tough division.

However, his best result of the weekend occurred that night in the Winged ‘A’ Class main event as Crouch charged from 14th to fourth.

“Going back and forth between the midget and micro sprint was challenging,” he said. “You had to really pay attention to what you’re driving because they drive different, especially with the micro sprint having a wing on it each night.”

Team manager Joey Starnes noticed improvement in Crouch’s comfort level as the weekend went on, which he said was the biggest goal of racing as much as they did.

“On Saturday he did really good in both micros and did better in the midget,” he said. “As the weekend went on his driving style got better as far as being able to adapt quicker.”

The racing plan for this weekend is currently undecided.
