Flud Nets Seventh Win at Port City Raceway in the Last Month

Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (Sept. 14, 2021) – Frank Flud captured his 22nd victory of the season at Port City Raceway last Saturday.

Flud was stout during Winged ‘A’ Class micro sprint competition, winning a heat race from third and the A Main from the pole position.

“I had a really good heat race, which put us starting pole of the feature,” he said. “I led every lap, but Kris Carroll was right there. He definitely didn’t make it easy. We were battling each other throughout the whole race. I could see him getting some runs on the top so I’d switch my line up. Both of us were able to put our cars wherever we needed to and made them work. It was all about who made the right moves and didn’t get hung up in traffic. It worked out in our favor.”

The triumph was Flud’s seventh in the last month at the track.

He also competed in the Non-Wing program, running from seventh to fourth place in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.

“We started 10th and were battling for the lead, but we broke a right rear torsion arm with two or three laps to go,” he said. “That’s what holds the car up. There was nothing to hold up the right rear corner so it just drops to the ground.

“I used the bottom to get up to the top three. Once I got up there I wasn’t gaining too much ground on second and first so I switched lines. I wasn’t going to win it where I was running so I decided to lay it out and run the top. The midgets had pushed the track up so far and made it choppy. It was pretty rough, but I left it all on the table. I got right to the outside of the leader and was in contention for the win. I went through a rut and it ended up busting the arm.”

Flud was unable to finish the race following the late incident and he was credited with an 18th-place result.

He is taking this weekend off before returning to Port City Raceway on Sept. 25.
